Brief synopsis of the session:
High resolution automated sensors are now used by much of the freshwater research community. These enable investigation of in situ limnological and meteorological processes that take place at frequencies of minutes to hours. Their widespread use provides the potential for exciting regional, continental and even global-scale studies that inform scientists, managers and local stakeholders. Such large quantities of data require careful handling. Thus, they provide both new opportunities and new challenges that are best tackled by groups of researchers sharing data and identifying common goals. We invite presentations on the analysis of data from automated lake observatories, welcoming studies that focus on single sites, but with a particular focus on those seeking to expand from single to multiple sites. New developments in the automated analysis of high frequency data would also be welcome.
